A Warm Welcome to

Newbridge Primary School

Dear All,

I am privileged to be Headteacher of Newbridge Primary School. Newbridge Primary School is very special - it is a place in which everyone wants to do their very best. It is a place of nurture, opportunity, pride, energy and success. It is a place that thrives because of the degree to which people care.

It is a place where every day the children stand out. They are committed to their learning, they take on new opportunities to explore and create, they care for each other, they give back and have a desire to be the very best they can be. They are well-rounded individuals who move on with confidence to the next step in their education and they are children who make us proud.

An Introduction from Mr Goucher

Introducing Mr Goucher

“It is with a sense of great excitement that I introduce myself to you for the first time as I look

forward to being the new headteacher of Newbridge Primary School from September 2026! I

have some big shoes to fill and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to follow Ms Kennaugh

and be part of what is an amazing school and community. Newbridge will be my third headship

and mark my 20th year as a Head, after being Headteacher at St Michael's Junior School for 8

years and my current role as Executive Headteacher of Oldfield Park Infant School and Oldfield

Park Junior Schools for the past 11 years respectively. Being a Headteacher is a job I truly love

and putting children first, enabling them, staff and the community to flourish, is what I have

stood by over my 26 year teaching career.

A little bit about me: I consider myself a Bathonian now having lived in this great city since 1998.

My hometown of Chesterfield, near the Peak District, is a place that I try to get back to as often

as possible as I do miss a good old proper Bakewell Tart. I live in Oldfield Park with my wife, who

is also a teacher, and two sons (aged 14 and 17). Both boys are Bath born and raised and, of

course, are mad on rugby! Indeed, they play for Oldfield RFC, which is where I also coach the

U14s. This often means that weekends are rather busy! I'm a keen, if now not a little slower,

runner and I was pleased to finish my 25th Bath Half just over a week ago, dressed as Buzz

Lightyear. Finally, I'm a long standing Bath Rugby season ticket holder, a lifelong fan of

Chesterfield FC and we love as a family exploring new places in our campervan 'Jimbo'.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you all properly over the coming terms, especially

around events such as 'Going Up Day' and Reception transition, as we get ready for our

September start. Indeed, I am very much looking forward to working with you all, so that we can

strive together to support, challenge and develop all the children in our care, with the aim that

they reach their full potential, and we take Newbridge onto its next successful chapter!
